Our Compassion Child-Marielis Barec German

Our family is so blessed and honored to be able to sponsor a beautiful child from Dominican Republic.  Her name is Marielis Barec German. She is 4 years old and she lives with her father and mother.  She is responsible for running errands and cleaning.  Her father is sometimes employed as a laborer and her mother maintains the home.  There are three children in her family.  Marielis is not presently attending school.  Playing house and dolls are her favorite activities.  She does attend church activities and bible class regularly.

We only have one picture of her but her picture speaks a thousand words straight to my heart.  We go out to eat, buy things we don't usually need, buy things that seem to make us happy when in return we just want the next thing.  I feel so lead to give up just a small portion of our income to change the life of this child.  She radiates love everytime you look at her sweet face.

If I haven't said it yet, myself and my family members have our own christian band which is truly a blessing. This past summer we were able to perform at a festival down in California.  While we were there, they had a Compassion table full of children who need to be sponsored from all over the word.  As soon as I walked up to the table, the tears were pouring.  I was so overwhelmed with how many children were in need.  That table only respresented, a very, very tiny fraction of those in need.  I turned to my husband and he knew.  I had to have one.  So I looked and the first one they gave me was the one that stole my heart.  Just from her pictures you could tell she had a sweet sassy attitude.  From that point on, I knew she would be part of our family forever.  My children, husband and I only see her as one of our own.  The joy my children had when we came home and told them they had a new sister was beautiful.

My prayer today is that she is safe, happy, knows the Lord, and always knows that she is loved.  Maybe one day we will be able to meet her.  Until then we hold her in our heart always.
